PARENT / PLAYER NEWSLETTER – August 12^th

           Another tough week of practice has gone by and we are getting ever so closer to the regular season.  This is not an easy game and you are going to have to look inside of yourself to find out how much heart you have.  It is also imperative that you go all out each and every play.  It may be the next play that wins the game for us!

          It is now time to show the league who we are.   The Steel Valley Football League Preview is this Sunday at Wheeling Island Stadium.  This is an exciting event!  All of the teams in the league will be there.  The preview game is played on turf but you are permitted to wear cleats.  I do not know if we are the home or away team so I will put out a one call with which game jersey to bring.  If you do not hear from me, bring both the black and white jerseys.  We will also wear our game pants.  These are the pants that are black and red.  Wear black socks.

      Game times are as follows:

            BANTAMS:  Game is at 10:45 AM vs. Edison.  PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 10:00 AM

              JV:  Game is at 11:30 AM vs. Edison.  PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 10:45 AM

              VARSITY: Game is at 11:30 AM vs. Edison.  PLEASE ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 10:45 AM

    Coaches – Officiating Schedule

             I had passed out officiating schedules to all coaches Tuesday.  It is imperative that all coaches take care of their designated games.  If you cannot officiate, please let me know before Sunday so we can make arrangements.

             Also, each division must select a coach to bring water.  Please take home a big water jug and the bottles and fill them up with ice water.  Your players are going to need it for it is going to be hot on the turf.

     There are still numerous players that did not get officially weighed in.  The last day to do this is at the preview game.  If you have items that need to be in their folders (e.g. Original and copy of birth certificates, physicals) you must bring these to the preview.  This is the last chance to get weighed in.  If it is not done due to missing documents you will be done for the season.

     Past Due Registration Fees.

             I am reminding all guardians of players that still owe registration fees.  Your child will not go onto the field in Wheeling if their fees are not paid.  I will give a list to each head coach of players that have not paid in full.  If your fees are not paid you will not play.

       Next week will be our last week practicing in Mingo.  Practice will again be Monday through Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  The week of August 22^nd we will move our practices to the Indian Creek High School.  Practices will be reduced to Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.  Let’s finish up strong here in Mingo and take that attitude to Wintersville!
