PARENT / PLAYER NEWSLETTER – AUG. 19th
This
has been a tough week for the Chiefs!
We had one Varsity player go down with a broken wrist during the preview
game on Sunday and another from the Bantams during Monday’s practice.
Let‘s all wish these two players a full and speedy recovery!
As for the preview games…. That was our first look at how
we can execute fundamental football during a game situation.
Some look better than others but we still have a long road ahead of us.
We must remember that repetition creates instinctive reactions.
We must practice the fundamentals of blocking and tackling over and over
and over until it becomes an automatic response.
We only have one more week until our first game!
We need to perfect the fundamentals to be competitive!
I am sure the coaches will be pushing this to ensure we are ready for a
tough opponent!
School will be starting next week so that means we will
move our practices to the ICHS lower field (Monday, Wednesday & Thursdays Only).
We will begin our practices at 6:00 PM SHARP.
We will be following the ICHS football practice so do not enter the field
until the ICHS team has left the field.
Parking is in the upper lot only.
Do not park down by the bus
garages.
And PLEASE… obey
the speed limit on the road leading to the field and school.
There will be kids all over the place and we do not want any accidents!
I had stated during our orientation that no parent is to
address any of the coaches before, during or after practices or games.
All parents signed a Parent Code of Conduct agreeing to this.
If you have an issue with any coach, you are to see the Athletic Director
and discuss your issue. If a
win-win resolution cannot be agreed upon with the AD then you have the
opportunity to fill out a formal complaint (form can be obtained from the AD or
other Board Member) and submit it to the AD for a review by the Board of
Directors.
This Friday is the Mingo Chiefs Pool Party at the Mingo
Junction Pool from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
Pizza and
refreshments will be available for the players and cheerleaders only.
If parents want refreshments at this event you will have to provide your
own. The concession stand will not be
open, Sorry!
We are also having our 3rd Annual Mingo Chiefs
Golf Scramble at Spring Hills G.C. on Saturday.
If you would like to volunteer to help with this event we would greatly
appreciate it. The first tee time
is 8:00 AM so we need volunteers to arrive by 7:15 AM.
Please call me if you are interested in helping (304) 919-3801.
